India has never allowed import of genetically modified products, will never open dairy sector: Piyush Goyal
Trade minister Piyush Goyal told students at Delhi’s Kirori Mal College that India has historically barred imports of genetically modified goods and has no plans to liberalise its dairy market. He emphasized that the government consistently safeguards domestic farmers, fishermen and micro‑small‑medium enterprises when negotiating international trade agreements. He described such items as sensitive and said any future pact will continue to protect these sectors.
