Asda appoints former Morrisons boss as chief executive as sales struggle
British supermarket chain Asda has named David Potts, the former chief executive of rival Morrisons, as its new chief executive effective immediately. The change comes as Asda faces a period of weak sales performance. At the same time, executive chair Allan Leighton will step down from day‑to‑day duties and assume a non‑executive strategic position on the board.
