Audit flags ₹3,000 monthly drinking water burden on poor families in Bengaluru
An audit reveals that poor households in Bengaluru spend about ₹3,000 each month on drinking water. The city extracts groundwater at nearly twice the rate it is replenished and loses roughly 400 million litres of piped water daily, according to campaign convenor Syed Ahmed Hussain of the Water Satyagraha movement. Officials say reforms are needed to curb the losses.
