Initiative to strengthen perinatal mental healthcare to be piloted in T.N.’s Villupuram district
The Tamil Nadu government will launch a pilot program in Villupuram district aimed at improving mental health services for expectant and new mothers. The scheme trains village health nurses and medical officers to identify signs of depression and other mental health issues during pregnancy and after delivery, and to connect women with appropriate treatment promptly. The effort seeks to address perinatal mental health gaps.
