Centre can intervene on airfares in ‘extraordinary’ circumstances, new rules say
The government has issued new regulations permitting it to step in and control airline ticket prices when extraordinary situations arise. Earlier, it set fare caps during the COVID‑19 pandemic, responded to IndiGo’s operational issues, and called for price restraint during natural disasters and major festivals. The rules also require the DGCA to intensify fare monitoring.
