Procedures to grant bar licences likely to change, says Keralam Excise Minister
Kerala’s Excise Minister M. Liju announced that the state will revise the rules for issuing bar licences after identifying abuses of a 2017 directive. The earlier order let Deputy Commissioners approve conversions of beer and wine parlours into bars, a loophole that some excise officers allegedly exploited. The government plans to tighten the approval process.
