Nibnib: Image compression with extreme decompression speed
Nibnib is a new image compression technique highlighted on Hacker News that prioritizes decompression speed. The method claims to reduce file sizes while enabling rapid decoding, which could benefit web and mobile applications. Early benchmarks show faster decompression than conventional codecs, though compression ratios may be modest. Developers are discussing its potential for streaming, gaming, and low‑resource devices.
