United Democratic Party leader Metbah Lyngdoh stepped down from his role as Meghalaya's minister after the party lost all its legislators. Earlier, eight UDP members switched to the Bharatiya Janata Party in September, while three joined the National People's Party earlier this month. The resignations follow a wave of defections that left UDP without representation in the state assembly.
