First import container arrives at Vizhinjam

India’s new deep‑water container terminal at Vizhinjam received its first import container on Monday, marking the start of commercial activity. The cargo, shipped from Dubai, entered a $1.5 billion facility built by Adani Ports that can accommodate large vessels. Officials said the terminal will help reduce congestion at other Indian ports and boost trade for Kerala’s southern coast.
