India-linked Buddha relics to be enshrined in 108 chortens in Bhutan
Relics associated with Buddhism and linked to India will be placed in 108 newly built chortens in Bhutan. The simultaneous inauguration of these stupas is intended to establish the spiritual base of the Gelephu Mindfulness City, a project aimed at creating a spirituality-focused global economic hub. King Jigme Wangchuk described the effort as a test of national character.
