Towards recognising women farmers

Maharashtra has enacted the Women Farmers’ Empowerment Bill, which allows women to be officially recognized as farmers even if they do not own land. The legislation aims to address longstanding gender bias in agriculture, calls for creating a comprehensive registry of female farmers, and seeks to improve their eligibility for government welfare programs through state initiatives.
