Government plans balanced urban growth beyond Bengaluru, as demography shifts
Karnataka's government intends to spur development in smaller cities to manage rapid urbanisation, as the share of residents living in urban areas is projected to rise to 70% by 2047 from about 46% today. The plan calls for infrastructure, housing and service investments beyond Bengaluru to ensure more sustainable, regional, balanced growth across the state.
