Ganesh idol immersion pushes up pollution levels in Hyderabad’s Hussainsagar
Immersing a Ganesh idol in Hyderabad’s Hussainsagar lake has caused a noticeable rise in pollution levels, according to recent measurements. The decomposition of plaster, paint and other materials released into the water increased biochemical oxygen demand and lowered dissolved oxygen, threatening aquatic life. Authorities warned that repeated immersions could exacerbate environmental damage and urged alternative practices.
