Nutritional deficiencies, alcohol intake linked to venous stroke in Karnataka: NIMHANS study
A study by NIMHANS in Karnataka examined patients with cerebral venous thrombosis and identified several risk factors. Participants commonly had low protein and folate intake, elevated homocysteine levels, anemia, and reported regular alcohol consumption. The findings suggest that nutritional deficiencies and alcohol use may increase susceptibility to this type of venous stroke in the studied cohort, as contributing factors.
