Why is North Korea fortifying its border with South Korea?
North Korea has begun reinforcing the demilitarized zone after a South Korean soldier was killed by a landmine, and after Kim Jong-un threatened to restart loudspeaker propaganda. The upgrades include additional guard posts, barbed wire and anti‑tank obstacles. Seoul has stepped up its own patrols, saying the measures raise tensions and underscore Pyongyang’s expanding military posture.
