Thane police have cautioned that they will take action against demonstrators blocking a highway in response to protests over the murder of Purnekar. The protests persisted through the night, with the victim’s family accusing police of inaction against former Thane mayor Meenakshi Shinde and her husband Rajendra Shinde, whom they say are implicated in the killing.
