All 17 escapees from Theni district jail apprehended in less than 40 hours: IGP South Zone
The 17 remand prisoners who broke out of Theni district jail were all recaptured within 40 hours. The escape was prompted by an inmate’s alleged epileptic seizure, after which the prisoners overpowered a guard and fled. Police, led by the IGP South Zone, coordinated the search and secured the suspects. The operation involved multiple police units and was completed by the end of the day.
