UNESCO expert committee seeks stronger community participation in Hampi conservation
UNESCO’s expert committee has urged that conservation efforts for the ancient Hampi site in Karnataka involve local communities more actively. The panel highlighted that current preservation plans lack sufficient input from residents and suggested mechanisms for greater public engagement. Strengthening community participation, they argued, would enhance the protection of the heritage complex and support sustainable tourism.
