After Theni jailbreak, prison guards manning district jail watchtowers in Tamil Nadu authorised to open fire
Following the recent jailbreak in Theni, Tamil Nadu authorities have granted prison guards stationed at district jail watchtowers permission to use lethal force. While all prisons possess watchtowers, they were previously unmanned by armed personnel because of staffing constraints and other factors. The new directive aims to strengthen security and prevent further escapes in the region.
