Thrissur MLA seeks urgent action to ease shortage of captive elephants in Keralam
Thrissur legislator Rajan J. Pallan urged the state government to act quickly to address Kerala’s deficit of captive elephants. He asked for faster, time‑limited clearances to allow elephants from other states to be brought in, while stressing that any transfers must meet animal‑welfare and safety standards. The shortage, he noted, hampers traditional temple festivals and other cultural ceremonies. He emphasized oversight by the forest department.
