Assam told to pay ₹2 lakh to husband of woman pushed into Bangladesh
The Gauhati High Court reprimanded the Nagaon Foreigners’ Tribunal for its handling of Mumtaz Begum’s case, ordering the Assam state government to pay ₹2 lakh to her husband after she was forced across the border into Bangladesh. The court also summoned the Ministry of External Affairs, directing it to locate Begum in Bangladesh and arrange her return to India.
