Anup Bagchi takes charge as HDFC Bank CEO and MD
Anup Bagchi, formerly with the ICICI Group, has been appointed chief executive officer and managing director of HDFC Bank, marking the first time an external candidate will lead the lender in its 30‑year existence. He succeeds Sashidhar Jagdishan, who stepped down amid ongoing governance scrutiny at the bank. The board approved the move on Thursday, and Bagchi will start immediately, as the bank seeks continuity.
