Over 1.32 crore updated tax returns were filed in four years, resulting in ₹16,083 crore in additional tax payments
According to data released by the Income Tax Department, more than 13.2 million tax returns were revised between FY2020-21 and FY2023-24. The revisions generated an extra tax collection of roughly ₹16,083 crore during the period. The department said the updated filings reflect increased compliance and corrective disclosures by taxpayers across various income brackets and improved reporting standards.
