Government amends motor vehicle rules to permit pure ethanol flex-fuel vehicles

India’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has revised the Motor Vehicle Rules to allow the registration of pure‑ethanol flex‑fuel cars. The amendment adjusts classification limits, updates fuel specifications and modifies technical references in emission‑related tables and testing procedures. These changes aim to facilitate the introduction of vehicles that can run on high‑ethanol blends in the Indian market.
