BJP legislator Hartal Halappa has appealed to Karnataka's state government to guarantee a minimum of seven hours of daytime electricity for agricultural pump sets. He highlighted that farmers in Hosanagara, Sagar, Sorab, Shivamogga Rural and Ripponpet, among other district locations, are experiencing frequent power interruptions that hinder irrigation and crop production. The shortages also affect their livelihoods, threatening yields.
