Farmers block national highway demanding withdrawal of Warabandhi system
Hundreds of farmers, led by former minister Narasimha Naik (Raju Gowda), blocked the Bidar‑Srirangapatna National Highway (NH‑150A) at Devapur Cross in Shorapur taluk on Saturday. The protest demanded the cancellation of the Warabandhi rotational water supply scheme and called for water from the Basavasagar Reservoir to be released into canals through the end of November.
