Courts cannot be unmindful when precious water bodies remain unprotected: SC
India’s Supreme Court warned that courts cannot overlook the lack of protection for valuable water bodies. It ordered state governments and wetland authorities to carry out on‑site verification of all water bodies, where such surveys have not yet been performed, and to submit affidavits describing the procedures and methods used to ensure compliance in accordance with environmental statutes.
