Government to modify labour survey to capture gig economy, unpaid household workers
India's government will amend the Periodic Labour Force Survey to include questions on gig-economy work and unpaid household labor, aiming to better capture labour under-utilisation. The revised survey, conducted annually by the Ministry of Labour, will add modules on informal and platform work and domestic chores performed by family members. The expanded data should help shape policies on wages, job security and social protection.
