Karnataka braces for 21,000 MW power demand in summer next year

Karnataka is preparing for a projected 21,000 MW power demand during the next summer season. Energy Department figures show the state’s peak consumption was 18,650 MW in the 2025 summer and rose to 20,000 MW in September 2026. Authorities are planning to meet the expected increase through additional supply arrangements. The state’s grid operators are also reviewing load‑shedding schedules and exploring renewable integration to manage the higher demand.
