Liechtenstein prince’s ‘surreal’ abortion veto dismays campaigners
Prince Alois of Liechtenstein exercised his inaugural veto power to reject a parliamentary bill that would have legalized abortion. The legislation, which had passed parliament and was backed by a nationwide petition, was halted, prompting disappointment among abortion‑rights advocates. The move marks the first use of the prince’s veto authority during his reign in 2024 in the small European principality.
