Sonam Wangchuk accuses Centre of going back on assurances to Ladakh, demands U.T. with Legislature
Union Territory leader Sonam Wangchuk has charged the central government with breaking earlier promises to Ladakh and is calling for the region to become a Union Territory with its own legislature. He noted that Arunachal Pradesh received statehood despite similar strategic concerns, and lawyer Vikram Hegde, who has advised Ladakh and Kargil administrations, said the government's current proposal falls far short of local expectations.
