A third of Perplexity's citations don't contain the number they're cited for
Analysis of Perplexia's citation data shows that about 33 percent of references fail to include the specific numeric value they are meant to support. Researchers examined the AI's output and found many citations point to sources without the quoted figure, raising concerns about the reliability of its fact‑checking and prompting calls for improved verification mechanisms.
