How Tamil actor M.R. Radha got away with staging a ‘banned’ play in 1959
In 1959, the Madras government prohibited the Tamil stage production Thooku Medai starring actor M.R. Radha. To circumvent the ban, Radha presented the script of a different drama, Kathal Bali, to the police commissioner and secured permission to stage it. Authorities later recognized that Kathal Bali closely resembled the prohibited work and filed a legal case against him.
