NHAI turns to AI and open source to preserve institutional knowledge lost to officer transfers
India’s National Highways Authority (NHAI) has introduced an internal artificial‑intelligence tool built on open‑source technology to retain institutional knowledge that often disappears when officers are transferred. The assistant can search policies, contracts and project documentation, allowing staff to quickly locate relevant information. Developers say the system is designed to make expertise portable across different regional offices.
