No provision in Forest Rights Act to obtain gram sabha consent for projects, Tribal Affairs Ministry says
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs told the Union Ministry of Power that the Forest Rights Act does not include a requirement for gram sabha approval for projects in forest lands. It clarified that seeking 100% consent from village assemblies is not within its authority, and such matters are outside the Act’s provisions under current legislation.
