CPI(M) hartal disrupts normal life in Idukki
Kerala's Communist Party of India (Marxist) organized a hartal in Idukki district, halting daily activities. Protesters cited multiple land concerns: the government's demarcation of Ecologically Sensitive Areas, plans to reclassify Cardamom Hill Reserve lands as forest, and proposals for wild elephant corridors. The strike aimed to pressure authorities over these environmental and land‑use policies in the region.
