T.N. launches third phase of underwater archaeological exploration off Poompuhar coast
Tamil Nadu's archaeology department has begun the third phase of an underwater survey along the Poompuhar coastline. The 20‑day operation was scheduled after analyzing seasonal currents and the upcoming Northeast monsoon. This follow‑up follows a previous survey conducted in September 2025, aiming to document submerged heritage sites and assess preservation conditions. The team accounted for currents to ensure safety, aiding a program protecting maritime heritage.
