‘What are we doing?’: Brennan’s anger at racing in 44C heat as Van Aert wins shortened stage
British rider Matthew Brennan criticised the extreme 44 °C conditions during stage 15 of the Vuelta a España, questioning the decision to race in such heat. The stage had been shortened because of the temperature. The shortened route covered roughly 100 kilometres, and several riders reported dehydration. Belgian cyclist Wout van Aert ultimately claimed victory, finishing ahead of the field in the heat‑affected race.
