2,390 gram panchayats in Tamil Nadu declared tuberculosis-free for 2025
About 2,390 village councils in Tamil Nadu have been certified as tuberculosis‑free for the 2025 target, according to The Hindu. The state’s ‘TB Free Panchayat’ programme seeks to turn TB eradication into a grassroots effort, tasking local bodies in rural areas with promoting prevention, spotting cases early, ensuring diagnosis, providing treatment and supporting patients throughout their recovery.
