Building bridges for India’s wildlife
India has constructed a nearly kilometre‑long wildlife overpass that crosses a highway, a railway yard and a golf course, providing a safe passage for animals. The structure aims to reduce road‑kill and habitat fragmentation as traffic volumes rise. Officials view such corridors as essential for protecting biodiversity while accommodating expanding infrastructure. It forms part of a national wildlife corridor plan.
