Southwest monsoon withdraws from entire country: IMD
India's meteorological agency said the southwest monsoon has fully withdrawn nationwide. Seasonal rainfall totaled 759.4 mm, about 12.6 % below the long‑term average of 868.6 mm. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) noted the shortfall could impact agriculture and water supplies, highlighting a drier monsoon than usual. The agency's bulletin emphasized that the below‑normal precipitation may affect crop yields in rain‑dependent regions and increase stress on reservoirs.
