Centre sets up panel to study problems of sugarcane farmers

The Indian government has formed a panel to examine challenges faced by sugarcane growers, following protests by farmers from Karnataka and Maharashtra. The farmers, who met with Union ministers, urged higher returns for their produce. The panel will investigate issues such as pricing, credit, and supply chain constraints to recommend policy measures that could improve the sector’s sustainability.
