Sugarcane farmers take protest to other towns in Belagavi district
Sugarcane farmers in Karnataka's Belagavi district have spread their protest to towns such as Gokak, Mudalagi, Gurlapur and Munnolli, blocking nearby roads in a rasta roko. The blockade seeks higher farmgate prices and timely payments, pressing authorities to address long‑standing grievances over sugarcane remuneration. The demonstrations began earlier this month and have now moved to villages, disrupting traffic and drawing attention to the sector's strain.
