Rupee rises 44 paise to 94.92 against U.S. dollar in early trade
India’s rupee edged up by 0.44 rupee to reach 94.92 per U.S. dollar in early trading, marking its fourth consecutive gain. The rise is attributed to recent Reserve Bank of India steps aimed at limiting speculative activity. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman noted the rupee had recently fallen sharply over the last year and a half.
