IIT Mandi probes ‘Shudras serve higher classes’ poster; director blames some students’ interpretation
Indian Institute of Technology Mandi has opened an inquiry after a poster titled “Bhagavad Gita – The Timeless Wisdom” was displayed outside its auditorium, showing the traditional four‑varna caste divisions. The image, however, sparked criticism for implying that Shudras serve higher classes. The institute’s director said the reaction stemmed from a misreading by some students.
