Senior minister Harish Rao of the BRS party alleged that moving 3.063 million farm electricity connections to the newly created Rythu Discom is a plot to discontinue round‑the‑clock free power. He noted that solar energy, which makes up about 58% of the Discom’s supply, would operate only during daylight, while hydroelectric power, accounting for just three to four months annually.
