Tyeb Mehta’s ‘Rickshaw Puller’ sells for ₹69.1 crore
Indian artist Tyeb Mehta's 2002 acrylic painting titled 'Rickshaw Puller' fetched 69.1 crore rupees at auction. The work, created in the final decade of Mehta's career, portrays a rickshaw driver, a motif he revisited in later pieces. The sale underscores strong demand for his late‑period art in the Indian market. Measuring roughly six by eight feet, the canvas set a new benchmark for Mehta's oeuvre.
