Billboard with Goddess Durga beside pot of biryani sparks row in Hooghly
A billboard in Hooghly district featuring the Hindu goddess Durga beside a pot of biryani has sparked a controversy, with critics saying it mixes religious imagery with food advertising. The incident echoes a prior dispute in Siliguri, where a religious group circulated a poster urging residents to purchase biryani exclusively from Hindu shopkeepers. The campaign has drawn backlash from secular groups and local authorities.
