Indonesia looks to mosque loudspeakers to double as earthquake warning systems
Indonesia has launched a five‑year pilot to evaluate whether mosque loudspeakers, traditionally used for the call to prayer, can serve as an early‑warning network for earthquakes in remote regions. The program aims to leverage existing audio infrastructure to quickly disseminate alerts, improving safety for communities that are difficult to reach by conventional national warning systems.
