Aged, sedimented pipelines hit water-carrying capacity in Kochi
French water‑management company SUEZ examined Kerala Water Authority pipelines in Kochi. The assessment revealed that many pipes, aged and clogged with sediment, have lost much of their capacity to transport water. The findings highlight the need for urgent repairs or replacements to restore reliable service to affected neighborhoods. The study covered localities, noting that sediment buildup and corrosion have lowered pipe diameter and flow rates.
